Aventis, Introgen phase change III, USA, Europe, Canada


A phase III trial designed to investigate Introgen and Aventis’ INGN 201, an adenoviral vector expressing the p53 gene, in recurrent or refractory squamous cell cancer of the head and neck, has begun patient enrollment at the Norton Healthcare Cancer Center, USA. The trial will involve 240 patients at over 60 sites in Europe, the USA and Canada, and will compare INGN 201 to methotrexate, the standard chemotherapy for this type of cancer.
