duloxetine
Boehringer Ingelheim, Lilly recommended for approval, EU (neuropathic pain)

On 17 February 2005 Lilly and Boehringer Ingelheim announced that the EMEA has recommended that duloxetine (CYMBALTA) be approved in the EU for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain.

Duloxetine, a dual noradrenaline and 5HT reuptake inhibitor, is available in the USA for the treatment of depression and neuropathic pain and is available in several EU countries for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence and in the UK for depression. Boehringer Ingelheim acquired rights to co-develop and co-commercialize duloxetine in certain regions from Lilly, under an agreement signed in 2002.
