Boehringer Ingelheim, Pfizer marketed, Netherlands, Philippines

Boehringer Ingelheim’s tiotropium bromide (SPIRIVA), a muscarinic M3 receptor antagonist for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, has been launched in the Netherlands and Philippines, its first markets worldwide. The product will be co-promoted globally with licensing partner Pfizer. Further launches of this once-daily inhaled therapy are expected in Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Finland in June 2002.

The product has been approved in Europe, Mexico and New Zealand, and approval is pending in the USA, where an NDA was submitted December 2001.
